Customer Orders From Office Depot - 1543 Words
The merged of Office Depot and Office Max cause a massive chaos in operation and inventory. Volume in customer orders went from an average of 38,000 to a high volume of 55,000. There was a massive change that causes reengineering and the build of a new building to support store orders. Industrial engineers and mechanical engineers had to create conveyor lines and pick modules to support all of its customer orders. Systems and programs had to be upgraded to handle these new volumes and maintain its customer satisfactions. Not having customers means that there is no business. Not having the correct technology can cause the company to be non-competitive and causes customers to look elsewhere like Staples. The warehouse distribution does compete externally on analytics. The company will try at all cost to meet customer demands and their needs. With that being said, the company must maintain good relationships with it suppliers. Without the suppliers, the company cannot maintain it satisfaction to its customers. On the other hand, the company can seek out to other suppliers too. They have to make sure that both parties meet agreements. Agreements are between the company and suppliers which is beyond my knowledge. Analytic is heavily used in customers demand. We used data mainly statistical progrrams to help us predict what and how much to stock in inventory within the warehouse. We call this forecasting. Forecasting is greatly used during the back to school time frame. That is when we have the highest volume in sales. Marketing and advertisement plays a major role here too. A good example is stocking more Office Depot red top copy papers as compare to Hammermill copy papers. We know that the Office Depot brand is cheaper and sells much faster. The term here is optimizing our space wi thin the warehouse. This saves us tons of money and allows us to stock different products. The goal is here to receive the material from the supplier and

Imagery in Macbeth Essay Example For Students
Imagery in Macbeth Essay The snake has long been used as a symbol of sly subtlety. A serpents presence has been characterized by cunning cynicism dating as far back as biblical times, when the snake persuaded Eve to eat the forbidden fruit of Edens garden. Even the phrase snake in the grass expresses latency. Shakespeare uses this treacherous reptile in Macbeth to convey the same evil. In his poetic prose, Shakespeare may not speak of a characters malevolence directly; rather, he alludes to it through serpentine imagery. Macbeth contains four separate images of this type. What is their purpose, and what do they signify? A deep undercurrent of meaning flows beneath each image. In act one, scene five, Lady Macbeth tries to instill invisible evil into herself and her husband in preparation for Duncans murder. She asks for supernatural unsexing, for a thickening of her blood that will stop up th access and passage to remorse. She fears her husband is too weak to murder Duncan, which she believes is Macbeths only path to the crown. After tauntingly questioning her husbands manhood, she convinces him to follow her gory plan and gives him instructions to do so. To beguile the time, look like the time. Bear welcome in your eye, your hand, your tongue. Look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under t. She says that to succeed, they must feign mediocrity amongst their guests, concealing their sinister desires. Appearing normal will not invoke suspicions. The serpent Lady Macbeth speaks of is the evil ambition Macbeth has, craftily slithering out of the shade of the virtuous flower when the deed is to be done. This image is used in a traditional manner, denoting mischief and concealment. It represents Macbeths hidden ambitions and his wifes plans. This is the first example of an extensive amount of scheming that will occur in an effort to cover the bloody truths of Macbeths rise to the throne. It also follows the theme of appearance versus reality- fair is foul and foul is fair. What Duncan thinks to have a pleasant seat is actually the poisonous serpent underneath, waiting till nighttime to prey on its docile victim. Macbeth expresses his suspicions about Banquo and Duncans murder in act three, scene two. When Lady Macbeth says things without all remedy should be without regard, he disagrees. We have scorched the snake, not killed it. Shell remain close and be herself whilst our poor malice remains in danger of her former tooth. Here, the snake is a metaphor for the obstacles impeding his rise to power. He says they have merely injured these hindrances, not eliminated them. In time, theyll reassemble just as strong, while Macbeth and his wife will be vulnerable to them again. He feels his work is not yet done, and hires murderers for Banquo to finish it. The former tooth of the snake Macbeth fears will get revenge on him foreshadows the remainder of his life. Upon scorching Duncan, Macbeth sets off his devilish ambitions and begins butchering his way through a downward spiral. His scorching of the snake ultimately leads to he and his wifes painful demises and a loss of all he had gained. The snake Macbeth was apprehensive about earlier is eliminated by the murderers when they kill Banquo in act three, scene four. Macbeth thought that his impediments would dissipate with the General; instead, they remain in Fleances escape. About the incidents, Macbeth says: There the grown serpent lies. The worm thats fled hath nature that in time will venom breed, no teeth for th present. .u31393cf6c1b0da86804358684d811262 , .u31393cf6c1b0da86804358684d811262 .postImageUrl , .u31393cf6c1b0da86804358684d811262 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u31393cf6c1b0da86804358684d811262 , .u31393cf6c1b0da86804358684d811262:hover , .u31393cf6c1b0da86804358684d811262:visited , .u31393cf6c1b0da86804358684d811262:active { border:0!important; } .u31393cf6c1b0da86804358684d811262 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u31393cf6c1b0da86804358684d811262 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u31393cf6c1b0da86804358684d811262:active , .u31393cf6c1b0da86804358684d811262:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u31393cf6c1b0da86804358684d811262 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u31393cf6c1b0da86804358684d811262 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u31393cf6c1b0da86804358684d811262 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u31393cf6c1b0da86804358684d811262 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u31393cf6c1b0da86804358684d811262:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u31393cf6c1b0da86804358684d811262 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u31393cf6c1b0da86804358684d811262 .u31393cf6c1b0da86804358684d811262-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u31393cf6c1b0da86804358684d811262:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Trifles EssayThe serpent that has plagued him is lying still in a ditch, certainly not a bother to him any more. He is now troubled by its spawn, the presently innocent worm that he knows will become a danger in time. Even after more bloodshed, Macbeth is not free of the weighty snake. Fleance will mature into a threat, fathering a son that will begin the seven generations of Scottish kings Macbeth wanted to kill off. A final serpentine image is used in act four, scene one. The Weird Sisters initiate their brew with a fillet of a fenny snake. The serpent, along with many other animalian ingredients, is used to show vileness. It is not a particularly significant image in th e full play, yet in this scene it precedes twenty-six lines of further ingredients. Heading the filthy brew with a snake, easily the most loathsome of all animals, the Witches set the revolting tone of their potion. If a picture tells a thousand words, consider the importance of an image upon a play as short as Macbeth. Shakespeare colorizes his play with contrasting dark images of snakes. The four examples of serpentine imagery in Macbeth illustrate the theme of appearance versus reality, foreshadow coming events, and set the tone of passages, all the while maintaining the deceptive finesse that characterizes the snake in all literary works.

Free Essays on Bullying
-Bullying- Bullying among children is understood as repeated, negative acts committed by one or more children against another. These negative acts may be physical or verbal in nature ââ¬â for example, hitting or kicking, teasing or taunting ââ¬â or they may involve indirect actions such as manipulating friendships or purposely excluding other children from activities. Bullying used to be considered a part of growing up - unpleasant but unavoidable. The law now recognizes that bullying at school can cause immense harm and unhappiness. Bullying among primary school age children has become recognized as an antecedent to more violent behavior in later grades. Not only does bullying harm both its intended victims and the perpetrators, it also may affect the climate of schools and, indirectly, the ability of all students to learn to the best of their abilities. Victims of bullying are often rejected by their peers, and are at risk for depression, dropping out of school, poor self-esteem, and other mental health problems, including schizophrenia. It is not only victims who are at risk for short- and long-term problems; bullies also are at increased risk for negative outcomes. Children who are bullies often attend school less frequently and are more likely to drop out than other students. Authors of the survey "Talking With Kids About Tough Issues," by the Kaiser Family Foundation and Nickelodeon, asked 1,249 parents of children ages 8 to 15 and 823 children ages 8 to 15 about their problems and whether they sort them out by talking to each other. Seventy-four percent of 8- to 11-year-olds say teasing and bullying occur at their school, more than smoking or drinking or drugs or sex. As kids get older 12- to 15-year-olds were a separate group in the survey the number rises to 86 percent, still higher than substance abuse or sex. And both age groups called the teasing and bullying "big problems" that rank higher than racism, AIDS... Galileo in Rome Book Report Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Galileo in Rome Book Report - Essay Example It deals with a series of events climaxing into Galileoââ¬â¢s trial by the Tribunal of the Inquisition charging him of heresy. The charge against him was brought regarding his publication, Dialogue of the Two Chief World Systems in 1632. Through this publication Galileo expressed his views on certain fundamental scientific truth. The authors are, William R Shea, who held the chair of History of Science at the University of Padua at the time of writing this book, and Mariano Artigas, Professor of Philosophy of Science at the University of Navarra. They came by Galileoââ¬â¢s correspondence in the archive, which was the entire source on which this book is based. They actually speak of two Inquisitions, one in 1616 and the other in 1633. The trial is to be seen in the light of that age when science was just in an emerging state and people were not ready to part with the age-old traditional concepts and embrace challenges of scientific hypotheses. Galileo made his first trip to Rome as an unemployed youth in search of a university job. At this time he found favor with the leading Jesuit Mathematician Christopher Clavius, and perhaps met the future Cardinal Robert Bellarmine also who would play a significant role in Galileoââ¬â¢s future. His second trip to Rome was a glorious experience in his lifetime. He was already a famous professor. The celestial bodies observed through the telescope and their subsequent publication made him famous throughout the world of the intelligentsia. The Jesuit astronomers supported his discoveries, and Cardinal Bellarmine felicitated Galileo on his wonderful achievement. Galileo was granted a membership in the prestigious Accademia dei Lincei. Galileoââ¬â¢s third trip to Rome was clouded with antagonism against his active support for Copernicus and his heliocentric theory in his Letters to the Grand Duchess of Tuscany. The work on sunspots aggravated the suspicion. The authors narrate a series of events that sealed Galileoââ¬â¢s fate.

Managing Marketing Channels Literature review Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
Managing Marketing Channels - Literature review Example As the paper outlines, intermediaries are specialists in selling. They have the contacts, experience, and scale of operation which means that greater sales can be achieved than if the producing business tried to run a sales operation itself (Tutor2u, 2008, pg. 1).Ã "The main function of a distribution channel is to provide a link between production and consumption. Organizations that form any particular distribution channel perform many key functions" (Tutor2u, 2008, pg. 1). These can include factors such as information, promotion, contact, matching, negotiation, physical distribution, financing, and risk taking (Tutor2u, 2008).Ã The amount of information an intermediary knows is crucial for market planning. The ability of an intermediary to promote a product tells how efficient it is at communicating product and offer information. Contacts held by a particular intermediary let a business know how well it can find and communicate with prospective buyers. The ability of an interme diary to match means whether or not it is able to meet the needs of prospective buyers. Negotiation refers to the ability of an intermediary to reach agreements on prices and other terms. The physical distribution for an intermediary refers to its ability to transport and/or store products. The ability to acquire and use funds to cover costs refers to the financing ability of an intermediary. Finally, an activity such as holding stock in other organizations shows an intermediary's willingness to take risks (Tutor2u, 2008).Ã Ã According to the material presented at Tutor2u (2008, pg. 1), "All of the above functions need to be undertaken in any market. The question is - who performs them and how many levels there need to be in the distribution channel in order to make it cost effective." Three examples of channel levels include those channel levels which consist of no intermediary, one intermediary, and two intermediaries. When there is no intermediary in a channel, it is known as direct marketing. An example of this is a factory outlet store. A channel with one intermediary is usually a retailer. A channel with two intermediaries could be illustrated through the UK drug market (Tutor2u, 2008).Ã Oversaturation occurs when the marketplace is crowded with a particular product or service. One relevant example of this in the U.K. is superhero movies. During the summer of 2008, a large number of superhero films were released-such as the Incredible Hulk-leaving the market oversaturated with them (Guardian, 2008). An example of a conflict occurring over stock levels is the recent release of Mac's iPhone all throughout the world, including the UK. When it was released into the marketplace, consumer demand exceeded the supply available. Therefore, it was hard for distribution channel members to keep them on store shelves (MacRumors, 2008). An example of conflict involving direct versus indirect channels comes into play with Computer Associates. According to Yirrell (2002, pg. 1), "The world's third largest software vendor has pledged to eliminate the long-standing conflict between direct and indirect and has launched a strategy which it claims will encourage the two sides to work together."
